
Terry L. Brillhart age 81, of McSherrystown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 11, 2025 at Cross Keys Village – the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He was the loving husband of Carol Ann (McMaster) Brillhart; together they shared 54 years of marriage.
Terry was born in Hanover, PA on September 16, 1943 and was the son of the late Lester A. and Lela G. (Trone) Brillhart. He graduated from South Western High School in Hanover Class of 1961 where he played basketball, football, and baseball, and worked for Utz Quality Foods in Hanover for 21 years prior to his retirement. Terry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later continued as an avid athlete playing softball while in the Navy and in many industrial and church softball leagues in the area. Terry played semi-pro football for the Red Lion Lions and baseball for the Jefferson Titans in Jefferson, PA. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover and worshipped for many years at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in McSherrystown with his wife and children. Terry was also an Eagle Scout and served as Cub Master for Cub Pack #107 and was a member of the York County Corvette Club where he found great joy in traveling with other members and driving his red Corvette.
In addition to his loving wife Carol, Terry is survived by his children Daniel Brillhart and wife Melissa, Amy Rickrode and husband Matthew, Elizabeth “Betsy” Ernst and husband Jeff, and David Brillhart and wife Becky; his grandchildren Captain Zachary Brillhart, Jian Brillhart, Tian Brillhart, Rebekah Jacobs, HM2 Sarah Brillhart, Catherine Rickrode, Maggie Rickrode, Emily Ernst, Katie Ernst, Adam Ernst, and Mason Brillhart; and his great-granddaughter Ziva Jacobs. He is also survived by his siblings Sandy Fuhrman, Sally Welsh, Thomas Brillhart, Brenda Brillhart, and Deborah Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his sister Patsy McConnell.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00AM at Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, PA 17344 with Rev. Alex Sheppard-Witt, Associate Pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Annunciation B.V.M. Cemetery in McSherrystown with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
